After a slow start and some game spent watching his teammates play from the bench, Fabian Ruiz has gained an importnat spot in Ancelotti's mdifield. The young Spaniard analysed his first few months in Italy and discussed his decision to join Napoli in an interview with Radio Marca.
"Now I have settled to all these new things, but at the beginning it was tough since I came in a different country, in a different league. But now I have settled. Naples is also one of a kind city, here they live football with passion. Ancelotti? He played a significant role in my transfer. He persuaded to come here, saying that he wanted me. But also the club's project was a decisive factor in my choice. Now I am getting a bit more playing time, also in the Champions League. I had a muscle injury that kept me sidelined in the first three weeks, but now I am getting more and more time out there on the pitch".
Ruiz's settlement process in the new club was eased by the other Spaniards in the squad, Albiol and Callejon: "They helped me with everything in the first few months, since I couldn't speak the language and it was difficult for me to communicate with the others. But I must admit that I was lucky since both Ancelotti and his assistant coach can speak Spanish so I wasn't left behind in learning his ideas. My future? Playing for Spain would be the dream. Return to Betis? Of course I would like to return home one day, but I don't know what will happen in the future, so right now I am focused on Napoli, that is my present".
