In a long interview given to Corriere dello Sport, Aurelio DeLaurenttis talks about Napoli and whether Juve will continue their winning cycle or not: "I obviously hope Napoli can have that continuity of results that was missing last year in the first phase of Serie A. We've paid the injury of Milik though: Sarri has done very well understanding Gabbiadini's difficulties and putting Mertens in that spot. We've renewed the important players' contracts to make sure we're on a long cycle".
A year ago, give or take, Higuain left for Juve. Have Napoli got reinforced since? "I think that this Napoli have already proved to be better than the one of two Serie A ago. The points we won, the goals we scored this last season says it all. And yet we'll start with a very young squad where the best will get inserted between Rog, Zielinski, Diawara but also Ounas that has just arrived".
Napoli's president also talks about mercato, with the first topic being Reina: "a false problem. Pepe has a contract". About the next reinforcement: "Mario Rui or Berenguer? The one who'll decide first to come to us. We can't reject a Mister X hypothesis, someone that you journalists haven't talked about". He also gives a word about Chiesa: "I'll be sincere, I like him, Giuntoli likes him, he's a player with great prospectives. Berardi? I like Chiesa more even if Berardi is a very talented player".
