After signing Tonelli a few weeks ago, Napoli continues to ponder changes to their defense. Valencia is once again working on signing Raul Albiol after a brief period in which the negotiation stalled. The Spanish club is banking on the fact the center back's contract expires next season, should Albiol leave then Napoli would look to sign Mustafi who has Serie A experience since he previously played for Sampdoria.
Juventus is also interested in Mustafi, they are monitoring the situation to see what happens between Napoli and Valencia. The fact that Napoli's president De Laurentiis' intention is to keep Albiol by extending Albiol's contract (which would make coach Sarri happy) could work in the bianconeri's favor.
