While their bad period of form in the Serie A continues, Napoli prepare to face a challenging Champions League match against Liverpool - a side that is steamrolling the Premier League at the moment. The win in the first leg, with the goals by Mertens and Llorente, proved crucial in Napoli's chase to a spot in the last 16, as the Partenopei could secure a pass for the next round with a game in hand, should they get the 3 points in Liverpool.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti discussed his team's morale and form in the pre-match press conference: "Our morale is a consequence of the fact that we are not doing so well at the moment. We need to be fully focused on tomorrow's game in order to reach our first objective. This time this game won't be our last chance to qualify, we'll have another game after this. The team knows that we must do better than this, and I know that as well. We are trying to find a solution to our problems. We have showed our potential in the Champions League so far, whilst we have failed to be consistent in the league. We are disappointed but also motivated".
"Every team has some delicate times, and this is what is happening to us right now but you can only get through this together. Despite all the gossip there's unity of purpose between the team, the club and the coach and sooner or later we will bounce back", concluded Ancelotti.
