Napoli returns to the Champions Leauge, facing Genk in the final group stage match in the competition. With a string of disappointing league results behind him, coach Carlo Ancelotti feels the pressure from the club that comes with mixed results. He spoke to the current state of his role in his pre-match press conference: "I spoke with De Laurentiis, I do it every day, we evaluated the match in Udine. We will spend the night normally, tomorrow we can obtain an important objective. I believe being put in the balance in this situation is absolutely normal. These are experiences that I have lived through before, I don't worry that the club will decide to sack me. If certain objectives aren't met, it's right to move on. The luggage must always be ready. Right now, I'm not thinking about all of that, I am thinking only about the squad, I am very involved in this period. The team is not showing what it's capable of, and I am responsible."
"I need to make the decisions at this moment, I must chose the right formation and put the team on the field who can play well and return to what we've done well many times this year, and have a convincing match. After the match I will reflect on the match and hopefully I have positive reflections because lately there have been very few. Advancing in the Champions League will not cancel out what has happened before this. What would I do over at Napoli? I won't say but there is one thing that I wouldn't do again."
