After missing each other at Juventus, Antonio Conte and Alvaro Morata have been able to finally work together at Chelsea. The Spanish striker talked about his decision to join the English club, after a 90 million transfer from Real Madrid, in an interview with Marca:”I’ll never regret picking a club like Chelsea. Hopefully I can stay there forever. You can’t regret anything in life. All of the steps in my career helped to achieve something. I learned and won in Italy. I won at Real Madrid and felt important there. Now I have the challenge to be a champion in England: few Spanish players have been able to. This is my goal: win the Premier League and be part of history as a Spanish player that won in three countries”

Morata described his decision to leave Real Madrid, the club he grew up in:”The only factor able to make me want to depart Real Madrid was because I needed something that Real couldn’t and shouldn’t have given me, which was to play every Sunday. Now I wasn’t in the best form for three matches and I continued to play, that is what I needed. Real is Real and any player would want to go there, why would I have wanted to leave if not to play more? Some went so far as to say I wasn’t willing to fight for a spot: I did so my entire life to make it to Real and to be part of their starting eleven. But I needed to play and I found that at Chelsea”

Morata also talked about his relationship with Zidane:”I’ll however remain grateful because he gave me the chance to win another Champions and to play for Real. He told that if I wanted to play with continuity the most logical thing was to leave, he also said I could have stayed but they would have also been more offensive options. I thought the best thing to do was to leave with the World Cup coming and I wanted to participate. I want to be important for Spain and for this reason I needed to leave to play with continuity that I’m now seeing”
