Spanish side Real Sociedad have officially announced that goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli will fly to Montpellier for medicals ahead of his transfer to Ligue 1. The Argentinian shot-stopper, born in 1992, will join the French club on loan - with a loan fee of €1 million - with an option to buy set at €11 million. Montpellier will also pay half of Rulli's wages during the player's loan.
The completion of the deal inevitably means that the negotiations for the transfer of Robin Olsen from Roma to Montpellier have fallen through. The two clubs had reached an agreement on the basis of a loan (€1.2 million) with option to buy set at 7 million, however the opportunity to get Rulli for Montpellier turned the tables in a deal that look inch-close to be completed.
