After an extended absence from football due to a heart ailment, Ivan Strinic will soon be returning to action at Milan. The rossoneri fullback has passed his exams and will return to training on Monday. Strinic spoke to 24 Sata, describing his path to recovery: "It happened suddenly, like a lightning bolt in a clear sky. The doctors told me that I would need to be out for three months to see if the condition would go away. That's what happened, which means that it was a issue related to physical activity, not a disease. I knew that things would work out, but I had times when I was stressed and felt doubt. The months were difficult, I was nervous and impatient to return.
Retire? I never thought about it, especially after the World Cup which gave me a lot of energy and convinced me I could grow even more. After going through this, my vision of things has changed. I will definitely pay attention to my diet and vacations: they always say you don't appreciate something until it's gone, and I certainly learned this.
I want to return as soon as possible of course but I know that it'll take a few months before I am at full strength. I hope I will become a regular player again, but this depends also on the coach."
