Alessio Romagnoli and Milan have signed a contract extension until 2022, immediately after returning from national team duties the Italian defender put his signature on the agreement. Milan's CEO Marco Fassone commented during the even which was streamed live on Facebook: "I am happy and proud to announce that Alessio will remain for 4 more years on an extended contract. Reading the newspapers talk about other clubs made me laugh, the deal has been done for weeks with the lad and his agents. He will begin the season with an assurance of being a pillar for the future."
Romagnoli also commented: "I thank Fassone and Mirabelli, I hope that this renewal will bring satisfaction to many people. Both in this year and in years to come. Thank you again to everybody, now I will enjoy my holidays and will return in July ready for a new season."
