In January he flew back to Frankfurt to sell his home, but somebody had already thought that he was missing Germany, where he was playing very well just a few months earlier. In AC Milan everything had changed, and he was playing (badly) a few matches, and then with Pioli the turning point: Ante Rebic changed his season and he is now one of the leaders of the team.
With 10 goal in 15 matches since January he is simply not stopping: "There are two Rebic. In private I'm calm, a little bit shy because I don't like the chatter about me. Then on the pitch there is another Ante that bothers everyone", says the Croatian forward during a Sport Week interview. He has a lot of personality, in the declarations too: "In the match won against Juve, at some point I told something to Higuain. I don't like great big players, like him and Bernardeschi, that stays on the ground for three minutes at every foul. And the same happened with Spal. Also Ibra suffers a lot of beating, but he gets up immediately and without complaining".
And then the backstage: "I say something to Higuain and Szczesny says: "You are losing 2-0, don't do the phenomenon". I didn't answer, althought normally I would have answered because I don't like people who underestimate me either. I answered him in another way (with the 4-2 goal): this is the power in my mind: those who provokes me charge me".
AC Milan is the second Italian stage for Rebic: after the first one at Fiorentina, Rangnick brought him to Germany: "I did well at the World Cup in Brazil, so Rangnick, at that time head of Red Bull's football division, called my agent and told him that he wanted me. He came to Florence: "Welcome to Red Bull, you choose: Do you prefer Salzburg or Leipzig?" I chose Leipzig: it was in the second division but the project was important and facts proved him right".
The relationship with Ibra is amazing: "We need him. He is a leader, before Juventus he said: "I will show Juventus how to play football". It was his way to charge us. And also Begovic, Kjaer... they are all experienced players and they know when to calm you or spur you".
