Milan and Roma square off in Serie with both teams looking to make good on their top-four ambitions. Coach of the rossoneri Stefano Pioli commmented to the media ahead of the match, previewing the tie between his team, just off advancing in the Europa League: "The match with Roma is a direct competiiton for the Champions League. Roma is on a great run, it's an important match. The points are worth more than usual, the upcoming three weeks are filled with tests. It's a moment to push and put ourselves to the test. We didn't allow ourselves to become too exalted when people were speaking highly of us, and now we must not be brought down. We must provide something more, and keep up determination."

"The moment is decive, from March forward the leage and the Europa League are decided. We need to get back to playing more in the opponent's half, this is a goal against Roma, we have the motivation."

"Tomori in the starting lineup? He is doing well, he has good traits, he has gotten up to speed quicky. Besides Mandzukic, Maldini, and Bennacer everyone is available. Romagnoli declining? I don't discuss individuals this way, I don't look for scapegoats. Some players are not at 100%. Romagnoli has played a lot."
