Stefano Pioli has been granted the job for the future as the coach at Milan. After reversing course on Ralf Rangnick, a mutual decision that Rangnick's spokesperson signed on to confirm in a statement, Milan will extend Pioli's contract until 2022. The statement reads: "AC Milan announces it has reached an agreement with Stefano Pioli for an extension for two years on his contract as coach of the men's first team, the contract will expire June 2022."
The reversal happened over the course of 48 hours. Reports first emerged from German source Kicker, which published the spokesperson/agent of Rangnick, Marc Kosicke's statement announcing that the deal between the sides had fallen apart, citing the good results obtained by the rossoneri under Pioli as the reason the pair would not be joined.
