While qualification to Europe remains the objective, Vincenzo Montella knows that his Milan has no margins for errors. In the press conference ahead of the match with Genoa, the Serie A wasn’t the only topic covered:
“We aren’t thinking about Juventus anymore, it’s a closed chapter. Our only focus is on Genoa, not even on the remaining ten matches. Absences? I don’t like excuses. Europe? The more teams are involved in the qualification race, the more chance we have, as there will be more head to head confrontations. Our race is against ourselves: I’m certain we’ll reach our target”.
Montella on the Champions League draw putting Juventus and Barcelona against each other: “Bonucci will be happy. Allegri has already beaten Barcelona before while at Milan. He has a competitive squad: the qualification is possible. It’s an interesting draw”.
On Roma’s elimination from Europa League: “I’m sad about it since we now only have one Italian team left in Europe, it’s a shame. We need to do better as a country for the ranking”.
