It was a season made of highs and lows for Milan but the objective of getting back in Europe has been reached. The club is enjoying it and has to plan the future, starting from next season which should be the one where rossoneri really get back to the top.
Vincenzo Montella has talked about the future at the 22nd edition of the Premio Gentleman: "Donnarumma is like a son to me, a well-educated and humble boy. He has now reached objectives and there's a bright future ahead of him. I know that the club is doing great efforts to show him how much they value the player. Gigio has now to decide what he wants to do with a lot of serenity as he's now a grown man but also because the club does everything it can to keep him here".
Who will wear the rossonera number 9 shirt between Keita, Morata and Kalinic? Montella has replied that "The 9 shirt is Lapadula's and currently it's only his. When I was playing and that a big striker arrived to my club, wanting the number 9, I've never gave it away".
He pursued by saying "the objective is to get into Champions League, a strong economic plan but it's true we're still far behind from Juventus, Napoli and Roma; the points difference testifies it. I would put Inter in that list too, they have important players and are still able to invest. Lazio is important too, they have done a great season. There also is Atalanta, which doesn't have that much of history, and Fiorentina which has a great team. To get into Champions League we need a combination of so many situations, we can't make any mistakes and every component must be used wisely. There's a strong will to improve the team which makes me very happy".
