The aftermath of the collapse of the proposed Super League has dominated the football headlines. Before today's game against Sassuolo, Milan director Paolo Maldini addressed the situation :"I would like to highlight that I was never involved in the talks about the Super League, I found out on Sunday night like everyone"
Maldini went on:"This was something decided at a level above me. I immediately felt some confusion, this doesn't allow me to,dodge responsibility and I apologize not just to Milan fans, but with fans in general that feel betrayed by the fundamental principles in sports. Milan always respected these values"
Maldini concluded:"It's normal that a director in 2021 know that revenues are important, we must ask ourselves where we can push further, but certainly the values in sport of meritocracy and everyone being able to dream must be maintained"
