After the last minute loss in Sunday’s derby, Milan are looking to get back on track when they face Betis Sevilla in the Europa League tomorrow. Manager Rino Gattuso defended his team’s approach during the match against Inter and addressed the reports that his job is in jeopardy: “We have to start over, we still have bitterness: I heard that we prepared the match for a draw, but that isn’t the case. From the character stand point I liked the team a lot, it burns to have lost but not everything we saw is worth throwing away. The players don’t need to be close to me, they need to give their best for the club: there are some players who speak well and others badly, some agents are annoying, I’m a young coach who started 5 years ago with some highs and lows. I have a relationship with Leonardo and Maldini, we always talk honestly”

Gattuso discussed two players that have been receiving a lot of criticism recently: “I don’t agree with notion we should bench Donnarumma, before they were saying he was improving, I make the choices and I don’t follow what the fans say. I see a serene player, at this time he needs to work and not think about anything, mistakes happen and he needs to continue with great professionalism. Mattia Caldara is practicing, 45 days have passed since he played against Dudelange, he doesn’t have 90 minutes in his legs, tomorrow he can certainly get some minutes, I’m not sure if he’ll start or come off the bench”
