Milan manager Rino Gattuso is looking to right the ship after suffering defeats in the past two matches to Inter and Betis. He spoke to the press on the evening leading up to his team's match tomorrow against Sampdoria.
"Sampdoria has only allowed 4 goals, they play well from the back. We must do well to make things difficult for them. They're an organized team coached by a great manager. We're coming back from two losses, but we aren't dead. I'm not finished or dead. When we lose, it burns but I know what I can give to this club and this team. It hurts when you're not able to do anything after you prepared for a match like the other day, but we'll never stop. We must move on from the last two games, as we can do more than we have been."
"Playing with two strikers? We'll see. We've tried 3-5-2 and 4-3-3...we need to have fun when we play. We need to move the ball and not chase like we've been doing. We need to rediscover the love and enthusiasm in the game. Yesterday, Leo and Maldini spoke with the squad: now we must continue to work thinking that we can improve. If we start to give up in the end of October, looking for excuses why things aren't going well, I cannot take responsibility for that because I only want to defend the players. It's a negative moment and we need to give more."
"Higuain? When a team isn't working well together, it's normal that great performances don't come. But the squad needs to let him give his best. I expect him to give words of encouragement and he can applaud his teammates rather than standing with his arms up. Gonzalo needs to think of playing and not frustrating himself, he knows this."
"Kessie has a problem with his ankle, we'll see how he feels tomorrow. Calhanoglu got stepped on in the derby and he's not able to put his shoe on: these are our injuries. Tomorrow I want to see 23 lions...23 rabid dogs looking for redemption."
"Caldara? When I think he's able to play, he'll play. When Cutrone enters the pitch, he plays with venom. I want to see that spirit on the pitch."
