After being knocked out from the Europa League by Arsenal, Milan can return to focus on the race for a Champions League starting from the next match against Chievo. Rossoneri coach Gennaro Gattuso discussed the game in the pre-match press conference: "The Chievo game will be fundamental, we don't have much time to prepare it. Calabria and Abate haven't recovered yet, we need people who are 100% fit to put up a fight. Conti? He's back in training, we'll see if we can bring him on the bench tomorrow. The only sidelined players are Abate and Calabria. Suso is playing very well, but he needs to rest sometimes. André Silva to start? We'll see. He played well on Thursday, he needs game time in order to improve".
Gattuso commented also on the rumors of the possibility of being offered a contract extension by the club: "There's no problem about my contract, I don't understand why it's so important. The club knows who should they speak to, right now that's not a priority of mine. I don't think about how well I'm doing or if my predecessors did better or worse than me. I live day by day, we are doing well right now because the team is following me".
