Milan, Gattuso: "Me to Roma? It's only rumors. I appreciate the words Maldini said."

Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso previewed the upcoming match against Lazio, with the rossoneri recovering from a loss to Juventus, but still focused on securing a Champions League spot for next season. The coach talked about the test that the team will face against the biancocelesti: "Lazio are a team who on a physical level remind me a lot of Juve, they are well positioned on the pitch: when they move forward they can fill the area with a lot of bodies. Tomorrow our ability to play well will not be enough, it will take viciousness towards the opponent and we need to really want it, playing our game as well as we can: they tire you out with techinal play, you can lose a lot of energy. I hope to see a Milan performace like the one against Juventus, with fewer errors but with the same desire we showed in Turin, and to have belief in ourselves."

Gattuso spoke as well on the refereeing controversy surrounding the rossoneri's last match: "For us it is not an excuse. We had a good week: we must think about the match. It's too simple to go looking for excuses: we made mistakes, we can play better. If we only talk about why the referee didn't award us a penalty, we are just looking for excuses. Selection of Rocchi? Perfect, he has a ton of international experience, he is a sure bet."

Gattuso also talked about the confidence he feels from the club, when asked about his possible departure at the end of the season: "You all heard Maldini's comments, I took a lot from those, I have two years left on my contract: tomorrow our goal is to return to the Champions League, the rest are coffeeshop rumors. Have I heard from Totti? I haven't for 4-5 months, I have two years on my contract with Milan: it's disrespectful to talk like this when I am at a club that has given me everything."
