A complicated transfer window, tough negotiations which remain in stand by awaiting for the decisive push. Milan continues to press for Musacchio but the latest offer was rejected by Villareal at the meeting today. Despite an agreement at around 22-23 million, the Spaniards rejected Milan's proposal of a loan with option to buy as they much preferred a loan with obligation to buy. Galliani could not offer this formula.
Negotiations for Musacchio are now blocked and the ones that lead to Caceres or Arbeloa are still standing. The two are profiles that do not whole heartedly convince Milan, as they would like to avoid signing players on a free with huge wages and are getting older. Milan's mercato could kick start only with the sale of Carlos Bacca who would guarantee the liquidity needed to land the targets on Galliani's list. The first name is without a doubt Jose Sosa and only 5-6 million to convince Besiktas would be required. An alternative path could be to chase players only available on loan with obligation to buy though several sales are required for this to happen.
If Bacca was to stay in Milan, Galliani would continue hunting player who could leave their clubs on loan with option to buy. The path that leads to Cuadrado remains very difficult, whilst Kovacic is a more realistic target, however it can only be done on Milan's terms. A complicated situation and Milan needs something to become active on the market.
