While football continues to be on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Milan are evaluating the possible candidates for the Rossoneri head coach position for next season. Stefano Pioli has not had the chance to discuss his future with the board, hence the chances of him staying on the Rossoneri bench after the summer are getting slimmer and slimmer.
One of the names on Gazidis' shortlist is that of Ralf Rangnick, with whom the club has held contacts through conference call. The main hurdle to overcome has to do with the budget that the German manager would have, as Rangnick would like to have the control over the Rossoneri's budget for next season. A meeting between the parties, that will be held as soons as the situation returns to normal, will be crucial in order to try and settle the details of a possible agreement.
However, Rangnick is not the sole candidate to the Milan job, as the Italian club has sent out feelers to Marcelino's entourage, as the coach was also one of the names that had been evaluated after Giampaolo's sacking. The Spaniard had been in talks with the Rossoneri, before deciding to not accept any offer despite parting ways with Valencia. Another coach on Gazidis' radar is former Arsenal boss Unai Emery - a coach with international experience that could become an option for the Rossoneri.
