With Gonzalo Higuain set to join Chelsea, Leonardo is working on providing Gennaro Gattuso the ideal substitute. First in line for Milan is Krzysztof Piatek - today there have been contacts with the player's agent to understand the feasibility and conditions of the operation, and come to an agreement. Following this, the first meeting with Genoa should arrive on Friday, however, first, Leonardo will meet with Ivan Gazidis for the go-ahead on the operation. Genoa have not stepped down from their initial request of 40 million euros plus bonuses - Preziosi, at the moment, will not accept any other conditions.
An additional alternative is Michy Batshuayi if they fail to sign the Polish striker. The Belgian is currently playing in Spain with Valencia, on loan from Chelsea. He was intended to make a switch to AS Monaco, however, the deal seems to be held back due to new offers. This negotiation would be different in the sense that it would be a loan with the right of redemption, although with a considerably higher salary.
