At the beginning of the negotiation everything pointed to Gustavo Gomez joining Fenerbahce, but the deal collapsed in the final stages over the details of the payment terms of the player’s wages. The central defender’s agent, Augusto Paraja, spoke to Sky Sport about the latest developments: “In the last hours of the negotiation between Milan and the Turkish club, Fenerbahce changed the terms of the payments of the wages. The figure they had told us at first was supposed to be net of taxes, then they told us that would be gross wages. Since the financial terms changed so did our intentions. Today Gustavo Gomez is and will remain a Milan player” With the Gomez deal off the table, Fenerbahce is ready to close the deal with Zenit for former Siena defender Luis Neto.
