Michele Santoni, coach of Dutch second division club Almere City, has a view of the youth development project underway in the country. Previously working as a youth coach, Santoni spoke with Sky Sport at the Wyscout conference in Amsterdam about the subject:
""Italy doesn't need to copy other models, It has to create an Italian model. In Holland there is an amazing phenomenon, which in my opinion one anyone who comes from Italy would become aware of, they want to building things slowly, piece by piece. Things start at the youth level, through the sporting centers, the stadium, they control everything and the idea is to place value on the young players. The Dutch live football, you just need to look at the young players Ajax has today, not to mention the famous ones. A name for the future is Ryan Gravenberch, 2002 class, he trains with the Ajax first team and plays with the B team. He will be de Jong's replacement. He's the next Pogba."
"The discussion next came to Ajax's Frenkie de Jong: "He is a fantastic player. Barcelona is very interested, also Guardiola likes him a lot."
On the experience at Inter with Frank De Boer: "At Inter with De Boer were 80 wonderful days and three of the worst days. Splendid club, unfortunately two different minds couldn't meet to work together long, there was Frank with his Dutch philosophy who needed preparation to bring it to Italy and also the club Inter, one which needs to win constantly."
