The bitter experience with Inter is still fresh in Mazzarri’s mind. He considers it nothing more than part of the past, but he did talk about Inter and their current situation:
‘Inter? It’s a closed chapter; I wouldn’t really want to talk about it. All I can say is that time revealed the truth…Chinese ownership? I was the first person to pay for the change of ownership. I was initially hired by an Italian president, and then found myself with a foreign one. I’m of the idea that when you change, you have to do it well. We were second in the standings when the clubs was sold. If you decide on a coach it’s important to know his qualities, and to make sure you put at his disposal a clear project, while at the same time having trust in his work. It’s just as important to allow the coach to choose his own players, to allow the coach to build the right team. This is the law of the game, break it and you’re screwed’.
