Olympique Marseille has selected their new coach. After dismissing André Villas-Boas, and then making an attempt for Maurizio Sarri, a deal has been reached with Jorge Sampaoli. The date when the ex-Argentina head coach will arrive is still unknown, he is still helping guide Atlético Minero through qualification for the Copa Libertadores. The last match of the season is on 26 February, but the club is close to clinching mathematical qualification for the competition.
The arrival of Sampaoli in Europe could come this week, as he is set to take over a club in 7th place in Ligue 1 amid a frought atmosphere after a string of poor results. He will sign a contract with Marseille until 2023, and the club will pay a transfer fee to Atlético Mineiro of 4.15m reais.
