After eleven years at Manchester City, there are rumours surrounding the future of Belgian captain Vincent Kompany. A guide and an example in the locker room as Pep Guardiola often pointed out that, also this season, the manager was unable to rely on him as often as he would have liked due to injuries. With a contract that is expiring this June, after the FA Cup final he will he sit down with management to discuss what is to happen (despite Guardiola mentioning that it would be enough to solely drink a beer together to decide the future of Kompany). However, the possibility of his future remains on the lines and for this reason, questions about who will inherit the captains armband have been brought up. Speaking to the microphones of RMC Sport, he spoke precisely of this when asked if Bernardo Silva could be that man.
"I say to him often you are 50 per cent clown, 50 per cent leader. When he becomes 25 per cent clown, 75 per cent leader he will become the captain of this team. He is so strong and to be honest there is nobody who deserves this title more."
