Following the meeting between Gigi Donnarumma and Milan ultras on Saturday, Milan decided to issue an official communication to clarify their position regarding their starting keeper.
In particular, the club wanted to address the ultras' request to not have Donnarumma play against Juventus unless he signs his contract extension first. Paolo Maldini, who is in charge of the sporting area stated:"It's important to reiterate firmly that no one outside of Milan can decide who plays or who renews their contract. Certain decisions are up to the manager regarding the pitch and the club regarding contracts"
Maldini went a step further:"From now on, every single contract negotiation will be frozen until the end of the season to allow players to solely focus on the league"
