The draw against Sassuolo during the last game before the international break brought Lazio to the fourth spot in the league and 22 points before the match versus Milan. Lotito's club continues to compete at high levels and is already qualified for the next round in Europa League. An important objective reached by an ambitious club that wants to keep growing, like has said president Lotito in an interview to Il Corriere dello Sport.
"I am still able to enjoy myself in given contexts but it's become a work and in order to get results, you have to follow it with attention. I am today in charge of the women football too, I've seen that things weren't going well and I've now understood what the problems were. We'll see what we'll be needing and I'll have a talk with the coach. The first team's objective? It's not about saying it but rather about reaching it. We've set a team that can compete with the others, we're hoping the results bring us the confirmation of the good work we've done lately but also about the team's quality".
"You need to win in football, you can't do anything by only being close to win. We've wasted a good chance last year because of a series of reasons, injuries and others, the result has been conditioned. I now consider the team is playing at its level. We'll see that in the direct oppositions".
Lotito then answers some questions related to transfers: "Football is a collective sport, it's not like tennis. Certainly, athletes that can have bigger contributions are fundamental to win but the team wins and loses as a whole. I want to say that Lazio, after Juve, Inter and Milan, is the team who's won the most under my management. We've always been able to combine the economical results with the sportive ones and last year, we won the Supercoppa against Juventus - we have a 120m budget while they have a 500m one, the average is set at about 300m".
About his coach: "Is Inzaghi always complaining? Let's not talk about these things, we're a big family and, luckily, we're not that many. We have the necessity of finding the right balance. We've done some important things, like restructuring the sportive center that the players should be proud of. there is a feeling of belonging inside the club".
