Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi spoke with Lazio Style Channel, expressing his disagreement with the government to postpone any formal athletic training sessions until May 18.
"I am a football player and I try to do well in matches. It's not to start discussions, we'd like to understand why running in parks is okay, but on the pitch it isn't. If they give us an appropriate reason, we'll accept it. But the governor hasn't even responded to us. We're not saying to play practice matches, but only run on the grass. We have more than four at Formello and also locker rooms. We'd all train separate and in different hours. You can train from 9am until 6pm. We can have one on the pitch at all times, an hour of running without the ball and in complete safety. The rules will be followed. Our work is our passion, we're used to always be moving, competing, with adrenaline and goals. Training at home is like being in jail."
"Football is fundamental for the nation's economy other than being the most loved sport. It's obvious that there's a desire to start again. All of us want to begin again with respect to the rules and the deceased. Now it becomes hard, because starting again on the 18th with individual sessions won't leave enough time to complete the full season. Starting another season three weeks after the end of the previous would also be difficult on the psychological level, as well as the physical."
