The negotiations between Inter and Real Madrid for the transfer of Achraf Hakimi are down to the final details. There are a few economic figures to agree on to allow the deal to be completed. The fee is decided: €40m plus €5m bonus. There are still decisions to be made on what the bonus will be tied to, and an agreement between the clubs on the payment structure.
There was fierce competition between Inter, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, who were prepared to offer €60m to Real Madrid and significantly higher wages than the €5m after tax wages he will earn at Inter. But Hakimi considered Inter to be the right project to sign on to both in terms of club ambitions and personal growth. His commitment to Inter was sealed nearly a month and a half ago.
There will be a decisive call bewteen the clubs on Saturday to discuss these final details. Hakimi is set on his part to join with the rest of the Inter squad, and he may be left out of the last match of Borussia Dortmund's season against Hoffenheim given that they have already secured second place in the league, instead ending his season early and preparing for his future in Serie A with Inter.
