Kwadwo was born in 2001 but is already in his fourth season in MLS. He has many experiences behind him, both positive and negative. His story has two stages, Ghana and the United States: “At 12 years old I had the chance to go to the Attram de Visser Soccer Academy in Ghana. It all started there. I was in love with Bale” he tells us. And right alongside Bale, Opoku won the 2022 MLS Cup.

But let's get to know him better. Opoku is an offensive winger: fast, strong in dribbling, also quick in close range. Where does he need to improve? “I have to score more goals” he told gianlucadimarzio.com.

As mentioned, his story begins in Ghana in an academy that has produced many talents. Over time, Kwadwo became one of the most interesting young people in the country: "When I was 17-18, Schalke wanted me, I remember they came to Ghana to talk to my parents." But in the end his plane took him to the other side of the world: “I remember that after a trial period at Schalke I returned home: that's when the call from Los Angeles came. They saw me in the Academy I played for and took me to try out in the States."

The impact with the United States, however, was not simple: “The first months in the States were terrible. When Covid happened I stayed in a hotel for months, I couldn't leave. But I was happy to have arrived in MLS, it was my first professional contract."

From 2020 to July 2023: with LAFC Opoku wins an unforgettable MLS Cup. “Winning the MLS Cup alongside Bale was crazy. The first time I saw him I thought: 'Is that really him?!'". And then there was Chiellini: he is a fantastic person and a wonderful player. I wish him the best." So we arrive at last July, when Kwadwo leaves Los Angeles and flies to Canada, to Montreal: “It wasn't easy. It took time to get to know everyone and settle in."

6 goals and 3 assists last season, now it's off-season time in MLS. And Kwadwo uses it to watch some European football: “I'm a Manchester United fan, but I also love watching Manchester City. The Premier League is the championship I follow most of all. In Serie A I like Roma, Dybala is my favorite player." And when asked about his possible future in Europe he responds like this: “I'm ready for anything, I'm a professional. My dream is to play there and win the Champions League." Opoku has clear ideas.
