After eight years at the club, Giuseppe Marotta announced he’ll be stepping down as Juventus’ executive director. While the timing appears odd after the club took the next step with the Cristiano Ronaldo acquisition, Juventus wanted to go in a new direction. Rather than describing this departure as a resignation, it would be likely more accurate to call it a mutual decision to part ways.
President Agnelli informed Marotta of his decision to part ways in mid September after the season had already started, the motivation was the club’s decision to move in a more aggressive fashion in the market rather than continuing with Marotta’s more cautious approach.
Rather than replacing Marotta with an external figure such as Zinedine Zidane, current directors Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici will receive more responsibility, the club plans on moving forward with a new triumvirate also featuring president Andrea Agnelli
