Juventus currently sit on top of Serie A with a seven point advantage over their closest rivals. Similarly, in the Champions League, they are in first place with a good possibility to finish on top of group H. Juve continues to win decisive matches such as the one against Sevilla; this being extremely useful for their morale during the intensive period which will begin now and last until Christmas.
The main protagonist of Juventus’ victory on Spanish soil was undoubtedly Marchisio who spoke exclusively with Paolo Aghemo on Sky Sport 24: “The match against Sevilla spent a lot of our energy, and the injury I suffered this year will certainly lengthen the recovery time after such an intensive match. I do not want to assign a percentage on my physical condition, but I feel good and try to improve every day.” The players that give Juventus their edge are those with much experience, and Marchisio is certainly a part of that group of players: “Those of us that have been here for a long time, especially the Italian core of the side, know how to express the significance of wearing the Juventus Jersey. Just as I was taught in the past, I now am trying to pass down what I have learned to the younger players.
The captain’s armband? I do not think there is a need for an armband in order to feel like a captain. When there was Del Piero, Buffon was already one. There are certain players that demonstrate their importance to the group with a speech or only their facial expression, and that is what counts. Regardless, it feels great to wear the armband, and I have happily worn it whenever given the opportunity.” With regards to Bonucci, however, Marchisio underscores the following: “I admire him a lot; I like when he dictates the game from the back. He is a complete player, and when I have man pressuring me, he is always the one to start plays and did this even when Pirlo was with us.”
On Juve’s new midfield, Marchisio gives his analysis: “There is always quality. The characteristics of the players change, but the results do not. With Vidal and Pirlo we played a lot together and won so much. Now Pjanic has arrived and he is integrating himself well. It will take time for us to gel for it is only November, but there will be time during the season to grow.”
