"When I walk down the street, all the people I meet They say, Hey Gorgeous! What's your name? My name is Nicola Berti", here is how the former Tottenham and Inter striker is still remembered by the Spurs fans, 20 years after his last played game in England.
He arrived in Premier League just about his 30-years old, thanks to a call from an old friend: "Klinsmann has contacted me at Christmas in 1997, I couldn't stay at Inter anymore. He told me to come here, that he had a great experience in England" has Berti told to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"In the first six months I felt like a new player. We got to avoid relegation. The year after that, I didn't do well with the coach change. Graham didn't like the fact I lived in the center of London and that I needed an hour and a half to get to the training centre. Tottenham has the image of a snob club. In the lockerroom though there was a lot of absorbing music, a shock for me as I was used to a total silence". He concludes with a word on Spurs' current striker: "Kane is atypical, he knows how to do everything, it will be difficult to stop him".
