Juventus, Evra explains his motives for leaving: "I was no longer happy"

Evra's first two years at Juventus were a success for the fullback, but as his Juventus career continued, his role became less fundamental to the team. Patrice Evra only made six appearances during the first part of this season for Juventus. He recently gave an interview to Sky Sport where he discussed his motives for leaving: "My decision was not an easy one. I myself did not even expect to leave. After the European Championship, I returned with a lot of motivation. My objective was to win the Champions League. But early in the season I did not play the first few games, and given that I did not want to quarrel with anyone, I immediately told the coach that I wanted to play more. He told me not to worry and that there would be the Champions. However, playing only one game a month did not suit me."

"After the break I felt something, and realized that I was no longer happy. The public may think it was a selfish choice, but I prefer to be honest with myself. I realized that I would have preferred to leave as opposed to show up to training without all of my focus. I have always said that Juve requires an Evra at 100% and not 90%. Therefore, out of respect for Juventus, I made this decision. I want to thank people like Marotta, Paratici, president Agnelli, and Nedved: they are all gentlemen. They understood my perspective, and let me go."
