After defeating Torino in the derby, Juventus must now face Roma. It is a positive moment for Juventus as they continue to thrive in Serie A after having secured qualification and first place in the Champions League. Gianluigi Buffon recently spoke to Sky Sport in order to discuss the club’s current situation and future opponents.
“Along with Juventus, the teams which have produced great challenges have been Roma and Napoli. Both clubs have a winning project, and I am not surprised at all by their success. In fact, I was surprised when Roma, a team that has everything necessary to win the league, found themselves in difficulty. Totti? Compared to him I am very lucky because I am a goalkeeper and can therefore play with more continuity. Totti, however, has always distinguished himself from the rest with a level of class that has rendered him a champion. Furthermore, he has managed to improve a lot over the years. He remains a point of reference for his team and Rome.”
Buffon also turned his focus to Juventus’ next opponent in the Champions League: “It is pointless to deny that it could have gone worse. I think it is correct and honest to say this. It is correct and honest to also say that we are the favorites, but we must demonstrate this on the pitch. Too many teams are favorites prior to a match, but then end up losing. Porto is a team which we have a lot of respect for. They eliminated Roma in the preliminaries, and have quality individuals. But it can be stated that the draw did not go badly. Last year we got Bayern and it did not go very well; this year, however, we were more fortunate.”
