Following the 1-1 draw against Atalanta, Juventus celebrated their eighth Scudetto in front of their fans. Amongst the personnel was Massimiliano Allegri - the Bianconeri manager who coached this side for the last time at the Allianz Stadium. His fifth Scudetto with the Old Lady, he spoke to Sky Sports about this season, his departure from the club, and his future.
When you have a squad like Juventus, you have so many alternatives for solutions, even when you have injuries. I have probably put forth 37 different formations; everyone says that it's easy, but they are wrong. The team made it easier, because winning is always difficult, especially after 7 years.
I leave a team made up of great players who can win the Scudetto again and again, and make a great run in the Champions League because they have it in their heads and legs. With clear heads, they will find the strength to win the Champions League.
The management of the Champions League, Coppa Italia, and the Serie A TIM? It was crazy busy. We came into the challenge against Ajax in irregular situations. But defeating Atlético Madrid was something unique, because we started off beaten, and our concern was to secure the Serie A title.
It was necessary to play positively in the league matches and get ahead because our calendar was difficult in the final stretch. We managed the period after the knockout with Atlético well, securing the Scudetto, but unfortunately, we stumbled afterward.
My farewell? The president and I had a fantastic discussion. It was an honor to be accompanied by the president in my farewell press conference. With so many people, we have worked and won so much together, I wanted to finish with a good game to celebrate the many Scudetto victories.
I spoke with the president after our loss to Ajax and the idea was to move forward together. Then after a meeting held together, where we had no speeches on contracts and players, I realized that for the good of Juventus it was right to end my spell at the club. The president decided this because we could find ourselves in October in the midst of situations from which it is difficult to get out of. I was informed Friday morning, I didn't ask myself why. When I left the meeting on Thursday I understood it.
Regardless of the possibilities in training, I make evaluations on the team. From there I find the motivation, because if I am not convinced of what I have available, I will stop coaching, I don't like routine. Many messages have arrived, but I have a few days left at work, then I will stop and see if I will get another offer. If the situation is right I will resume my managerial career. Until then, I will be calm, taking a break.
