Allegri can’t start anywhere but the relationship with Buffon and the BBC: ‘They help me, but they need support as well. My first year there were only three changes in the roster, all I did was make a few small changes to a perfectly functioning machine. Last year on the other hand, ten changes were made, lots of important figures like Storari, Pepe, Llorente, they all left. The veterans in our team found it difficult to see all these new faces in the locker room, so they had to ask themselves, can we repeat our success one more time? At the end of last season the management and I had a meeting and we told each other: ‘The player we need to buy to improve this squad is Higuain’. Gonzalo is someone who guarantees you goals. The management did well, Juve is outstanding in terms of planning ahead of time. As for Higuain, he always makes himself available for the team. He’s a great guy, character wise he’s more European than South American’.
