After yesteday’s announcement on social media, Andrea Agnelli hosted a press conference to discuss the decision to part ways with Massimiliano Allegri at the end of the season. The Juventus president started off by describing the Tuscan coach’s legacy:”We have all the statistics you could want: longest tenured manager since Trapattoni, highest win percentage of wins, titles, Champions League finals... incredible numbers. We were also neighbors, we had many dinners together, we like to share our lives”
Agnelli was asked about his decision to make a change after confirming Allegri following the loss to Ajax:”Back then it was an absolute sincere thought to continue with Max. Then some analysis came that also involve the manager, lucid decisions that brought to this. I won’t deny there was sadness and emotion, because we realized that maybe this was the time to close one of the most successful cycles in club history”.
