Sarri's first match on the Juventus bench ended in a 0-0 tie against Fiorentina. Sarri spoke to Sky Sport after the match.
"We played a match that wasn't at a high level from the technical point of view. It was a complicated situation, Fiorentina played a good match. We wasted substitutions due to injuries. Having three changes could've been useful. From a character viewpoint, it was a good match. From that quality, we gave away a lot of balls to our opponent in the first half. We paid from a physical aspect. Playing at 3 is different than playing at 8:45, especially in Florence. We weren't able to make the match clean, we needed to dribble more."
On the conditions of Douglas Costa and Pjanic, both substituted due to injuries: "For Douglas, it seems like a more severe injury. Pjanic took a hit to his muscle during the week that got expanded today. It could be a less significant issue, but he will get evaluated tomorrow."
"Even the two forward players played an inferior match compared to the previous ones. An unclean leg in this moment brought us into difficulty. I have the knowledge that a squad with less character would lost this game. The positive aspect is that the players do not want to lose. This was a difficult match for a million of reasons. After a half hour, it became more difficult because we lost two players. It was already obvious after 30' that the match would be complicated."
On Rabiot: "He's a player of a great level, but in 2019 he has never played. In the first 20 days with Juve, he's demonstrated a great desire. After many months without playing in real matches, his legs dropped physically. This drop impacted him mentally, too, because he's very sensitive. We'll wait and see. We're in the construction phase, changing 6 or 7 players in one match, in this moment, is complicated for us."
"it was all unpredictable. We had 5 players with problems and 8 in the training room. The other 13 took a course different than the others. We have situations where we're seeing who is ahead and who is behind. It takes time to bring everyone to their best. Playing here in Florence with high rhythms was difficult, we had better stats than our opponents. We missed a spark of brilliance more than quality."
