Marco Tardelli spoke to Il Mattino about the consequences of Italy's early exit from the World Cup: "Italian football has to rebuild itself, searching new ideas and younger players. Italian football no longer has an identity. We need to completely reform in a radical way. The decline didn't start a few months ago or a few years ago: the last 2 World Cups were poor. It was a vertical decline after 2006. No one understood the warning signs, no one understood the gravity of the loss and poor performances."
On putting reserves squads in Serie B or Lega Pro: "This wouldn't resolve the problem. The point is that is not the leagues that should be reformed, but the Federation. I'm not only referring to the President, but reform at every level."
On Sweden and Insigne: "Sweden would finish mid-table in Serie A. To renounce Insigne like that is something incomprehensible."
On Ventura: "I am disappointed that he didn't immediately resign."
