Italy's National Team has two upcoming fixtures. One is a friendly against Uruguay and the other is a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein. Giampaolo Ventura the Italy gaffer spoke with journalists today.
"The match against Uruguay is very important for us for two reasons. One, we've only tested the 4-2-4 formation against Liechtenstein and San Marino. Now we'll be able to test it against a top international team. The second is that with a win we can gain a better FIFA ranking so we can be seeded better for upcoming qualifiers. I was never able to have the five "Juventini" all together in my tenure as national team manager. When I asked them if they were ready for these games in June, they gave me a resounding "yes". We'll see how they are after the Champions League final that way I can lend Di Biagio a player or two for the upcoming Under 21 Euros. Will Conti start? Absolutely. Donnarumma? I don't know if Di Biagio will take him or not. I don't work on assumptions. Any external issues are left outside of the gate here at Coverciano, we don't want distractions during our match preparation. If a player is struggling we'll work with him to overcome his struggles."
