Italy, Bernardeschi: From Mancini to the youngsters, "This is how we can return to the top"

Italy has endured a tough stretch, missing out on the World Cup and now getting off to a bad start in the Nations League. Federico Bernardeschi spoke to Undici magazine about life with the azzurri, and how they can return to the top: "When you reach the bottom, you need to take each other's hands to get back up again: what must be avoided is criticism of a group of youngsters, pointing out that they are not ready. We'll give them time to grow. It takes a mentality that brings Italy back to the top, where it belongs. There must be a core group that works for the same objective: to bring Italian football back. There are many youngsters with personality and potential, we have a healthy and strong group that can bring Italy back. Obviously, youngsters can't be veterans, it takes time. Roberto Mancini is the right man to bring us back. He has played football, he knows what it is, he was a great champion and even a great coach. We have to have faith and patience in his work."
