After multiple Italian spells at Brescia and then at Cesena, Caldirola was signed by Werder Bremen. After 40 appearances in the span of two years he was loaned out to Darmstadt. After a string of impressive performances the Italian has attracted two big name Bundesliga teams.
There were a couple of discussions about a return to Italy but nothing concrete. Instead, Schalke 04 and Wolfsburg have appeared to be seriously interested in the player as they both necessitate of a center back. The signing of Caldirola is a true bargain as his contract expires in June of 2017 and will therefore not be too expensive.
