After the disappointing elimination in the Champions League, Inter’s players are focused on getting back on track when they face Udinese at san Siro on Saturday. Manager Luciano Spalletti described his squad’s morale and condition at the beginning of today’s pre match press conference: ”I believe that these lads deserve the fans’ support because they demonstrated disappointment about what happened and now have the desire to play straight away tomorrow. They know that this is the first step. It seems to me that these players are still working in the right manner. The team deserved to win on Tuesday, they created many chances”
Spalletti discussed the potential repercussions from the elimination in the Champions League while also addressing the criticism he has received: “Let’s not destroy what we created. For this reason I want to reiterate that these players deserve the fans’ support. As far as I’m concerned it’s only right to keep the spotlight on me. The players are doing what they have to do and they’ve shown that they want to keep going in this direction. They will keep working towards our objective. We must work on the small things to ensure that we make steps in the right direction. Criticism? If done in the right way then it can also be constructive”
Spaletti was asked about Beppe Marotta’s arrival at the club: “He has plenty of experience and obviously he’ll give his contribution. All of the professionals at Inter have put me in a position to work effectively. Now we must also capitalize on his abilities to go even further”
