Romelu Lukaku has had a great first season with Inter, winning over fans with 23 goals in 35 matches. He spoke on his experience, as well as a difficult loss in the World Cup.
"I was a bit euphoric after that tournament. We arrived to the semi-finals and we're talking about a small country with only 11 million people. The pain arrived a month after when I re-watched all the videos of the World Cup. That was difficult, because you think that you arrived so close. And this only hit me afterward. When I transferred to Inter, I had all this energy inside me that grew. I was a man on a mission."
On his experience with Chelsea: "It all happened so quickly. I was only 18 years old, I just finished high school, I got my degree and on a train to London. There I met Didier Drogba, he was doing physiotherapy. He quickly told me that I need to prove to have the Chelsea character. From that say, we would begin to talk every day for at least an hour, before and after training. He, Anelka, and every other player in that locker room showed me what it takes to become the person I am today. It wasn't as much the manager, as the players: they had the mentality to make them say "let's go win". It was a great experience. I saw how they won the Champions and FA Cup and this has helped me until today."
