It has been a complicated career for Joao Mario at Inter. He left the club after his performances were not up to standard and it seemed as if the move would be permanent, however, over the summer the club nor the player found any appropriate suitors. Now, the Portuguese has changed his fortune in the nerazzurro kit and has won back the support of the fans. In an interview with DAZN he revealed his thoughts on the situation: "In the pass I would leave the field after I gave everything and the people were mad anyway. I didn't understand why, from a technical point of view my performances weren't bad. Then, I realized everything depends on my mentality, and the fans didn't support my attitude: it was fundamental to play well in the defensive phase as well, giving as much effort as I did when in attack."
The turning point came against Lazio: "I didn't expect to play, I was out for a long time, but on the other hand this really motivated me to give 100%. It's true that commitment is always repaid: against Lazio I gave everything and the chances to play regularly started to come one after the other. Cristiano Ronaldo? Already at the World Cup the rumors from Juventus were around and he spoke about the possibility of leaving Real Madrid. He has started off great and I am sure that, even in Italy, he will continue to amaze everyone."
