After his 24 scored goals last season, Mauro Icardo wants to do even better, hoping his Inter can take a step up. He's talked to il Corriere dello Sport about the best acquisition this summer by Inter, who's Luciano Spalletti: "I didn't know him much. I've seen that with him Roma was playing very well and Ansaldi, who he's known at Zenit, has said nice things about him to me. He likes to play nice football and has the ideas to make it happen. He's changed the team's atmosphere"
The Nerazzurri's objective will now be to not look back again: "There have been some behaviors I didn't like, especially during the week. Spalletti has immediately understood it and we're looking to improve in many aspects. It's fundamental to be more positive, having another spirit. We needed someone like him. Pioli had just arrived that he's given us positive values, we followed him winning 9 games out of 10 and then there's been the drop. Spalletti is changing that, distractions are prohibited".
Icardi's objective is clear: "Playing in Champions League. Inter must play it for their story, we can't stay out of it". In order to achieve it, they'll have to fight against a lot of teams but the favorite remains the same to Maurito: "The gap was very large last year and we have to try to reduce it with Juventus, but also with Roma and Napoli. Even without Bonucci, Juve remains the team to beat". In the end he gives a message to the fans: "I don't like making promesses but I can tell you that I and the team will try to do better than last year. We want to be in the Champions League".
