Inter lost 2-1 to Cagliari when the two teams played in a Friday night league match. The nerazzurri were held by the bottom-half opponent, as their struggles to record wins continued. Coach Luciano Spalletti spoke afterwards to Sky Sport, touching on some of the negative points of the team's performance:

"In the first half we were slow in decision making. We didn't move the ball around and it was poor. We were too disorganized, we lost duels and didn't recover the ball. Our defense didn't stop two good goals, they weren't flukes. The offense and defense are both capable, but they didn't show up today."

Spalletti also spoke to the tactic of playing Ranocchia as center back: "In the last minute it makes no sense to play someone fast when they are playing back in their own penalty area, so we put in Ranocchia who has physical strength. We could have done more, and we were putting in more balls because it was five minutes from the end."

Lastly, on Icardi: "He has a week left in recovery for his knee, then he and Keita could return to help us. Icardi and Keita both are injured."
